TURCOM TS-6610 REVIEW
TURCOM TS-6610 PRO
If you never heard of the Turcom brand, according to TurcomUSA.com the company was “started by a group of engineers who believe consumer electronics can be both affordable and have the same premium standards for quality as the top brands.”
DESIGN & BUILD QUALITY
As I said mentions on my post “Top Five Affordable Graphic Drawing Tablets Under $100” the Turcom TS-6610 looks very similar in design to the Huion H610 and functions pretty similar as well. The Turcom TS-6610 graphic drawing tablet is Turcom’s mid range tablet that is most comparable to the Wacom Intuos Pro with a flat gray finish and made of pretty sturdy plastic.
The pressure sensitive pen is light weight, comfortable to hold in your hand and has a glossy black finish. The pen holder is made of decent quality plastic and when close it remains secured. The only down fall is it feels very light and I found it very easy to knock it over if I wasn’t careful.
SPECS & FEATURES
As the HUION H610 there are eight basic function buttons, undo, brush size, pan, zoom, erase, zoom in and out. You will find that the zoom-in and zoom out buttons are quite useless if using photoshop. At the very top of the drawing surface you will notice 16 numbers which are soft expresskeys and can be programmed with any combination of keystrokes.
The tablets surface drawing area is 10 x 6.25″ which is more then enough for digital artist working on 15″ and 17″ monitors. The surface seems smoother then other tablets I have used which could be an issues if your someone who likes a the feel of the Wacom Intuos Draw which has texture and feels pretty similar to paper as I have said in the review.
Turcom TS-6610 pen is battery powered, for AAA batteries to be exact which can be a pain over time, has great pressure sensitivity, it claims 2048 levels of pressure and in my opinion you get just that. The pen holder is equipt with 4 black nibs and one nib changer.
WITHIN THE BOX
If your interested in what’s in the box I am more then happy to tell your! The Turcom TS-6610 comes with a USB cable, the stylus, stylus holder with 5 extra nibs and as most do a nib removal tool. There is no included software but does come with Penmail and PenNotice.
The Turcom TS-6610 is an affordable quality graphic drawing tablet with feature that matter and looks of as though it’s ready to go head to head with a Wacom. The tablet has more then enough surface space for drawing, the pen’s sensitivity and pressure if amazing. Unfortunately the pen takes three AAA batteries instead of being rechargeable which could turn out to be an annoyance and the drawing surface is smooth instead of having a paper-like texture. Overall if your looking for an affordable alternative to the expensive Wacom Intuos Pro then the Turcom TS-6610 could be what your looking for if you can look past some of what it might lack or the AAA batteries for the pen.
