Before I make any decisions on whether software, brand of electronics or product on the market is right for me I like to get to know who a company is, where they started from, where they are at and what they are about! Who or what is adobe you ask? Most people now a days have heard of the software producers but for those who have let’s briefly discuss who they are.

Adobe Systems is an american software company located in San Jose California United States and focuses on the multimedia and creative software for digital artist. The company was found in December of 1982 by John Warnock and Charles Geschke.

Adobe’s first started creating digital fonts which they called Type 1 and was followed by Apple’s TrueType. By the 1980’s Adobe dove into the software market with the creation of Illustrator which is a vector based drawing tool and is better know for it software Photoshop a photo manipulating software which became it’s flagship software in 1989. Adobe continue to succeed with such software such as premiere a video editing software, after effects and many other creative software. For more information on Adobe Systems and their popular creative software please check out Wikipedia or

If you looking to get started with the latest Photoshop software then Adobe Creative Cloud is a the way to go and a Creative Cloud subscription is required which is a step away from the tradition expensive physical software most of us are use to. By now beside the question is this the right software for me your probably asking yourself what’s this going to cost me and this is only natural. The Adobe Photography plan is $9.99 per month and that will  also get your Photoshop Lightroom and apparently 10 adobe stock photos.

After you are pretty sure your computer can handle the software you will first install the Creative Cloud helper software which will complete all updates and sync your files online. During the install I would highly suggest having something to entertain you or other work you need to complete because it will take about 20 minutes.

Let’s start from what you will see when you first start up the program and that’s creating a new document. The new document dialog has a new template option which consist of Textured Geometric Masks, Instant Film Mockups and some Photo Collage Layouts. There are also options to get more templates by searching Adobe Stock but some of these assets can be really expensive and will cost you from $19.99 per month up to $199.99 per month for 750 assets which you average user won’t be able to afford.

There is an option to use the legacy new document page if that is what you prefer but I think most users will find the new dialog box to be much quicker in finding the options or recent documents you need. A new feature I find very useful is the magnify glass adobe has incorporated into Adobe Photoshop CC which allows you to not only search for recent documents but program functions, images, tutorials or Adobe Stock images.

Adobe has also added the option to their interface to choose from more specific layouts such as Graphic, Web, Motion, Painting, Photographic and the more complex 3D workspace. After choosing your documents artboard you be brought to an interface that look pretty familiar, an interface we as artist have grown to love with slight differences and an interface that follows simplicity.

Adobe Photoshop as we all know began as a photo editing software and is still the most powerful as well as the most preferred software for editing photos. So naturally we all want to see what tools are new in the photo editing side of the software and I will name a few.

Adobe has added tools such as content-aware crop  which if checked will using the crop tool it will fill in anything in the crop selection that is outside the boundaries of your image.

There is also Face-Aware Liquify which is a handy tool that can transform facial expressions such as turning that frown upside down!

The Camera Raw module offers tool such as Upright which can fix parallel vertical and horizontal lines. The Camera Raw option also offers Dehaze which does an amazing job of removing or adding haze and you can edit a photos color temperature, exposure, or geometry with Camera Raw.

I have saved the best for last and Camera-Shake Reduction one of the best feature of Photoshop CC.  The tool finds the path of motion where shaking may have taken place and aligns those pixels that shifted. With this tool you can adjust Blur trace bounds, Smoothing and Artifact Suppression. Now if the subject matter is out of focus this tool is not a miracle worker and it won’t fix a blurry subject.

Designing for mobile is no simple task and as designers we are looking for tools to make the process a little less brutal. Not only does Adobe Photoshop CC have tools intented to make mobile and web design easy but there is also an application called Abobe Preview CC which I installed on my LG V20 with Android 6.0.

As most mobile apps do Adobe Preview CC has a more simpler interface, tool set and a smaller workspace. The app focuses on HTML5, CSS and Javascript. As I took a look around the interface I notice there was a panel with tutorials for those new to the app and this helped me get comfortable using the tools right away. Now I also realized within the app you don’t get Photoshop adjustment and effects but you can switch back to the standard Photoshop interface.

Photoshop CC ArtboardsThe application uses Artboards which allow you to created documents with multiple views of different device screens. Artboards are also used in design space and include templates ( for iphone, ipad, surface pro and many other mobile devices).

Adobe CC now uses what they call libraries which sync documents, brushes, font styles and color themes. This can be useful when using a computer at a different work space and being able to access all your tools as well as documents. As artist we all know how frustrating it is to have to make quick adjustments or revisions to your design on a different computer other then your own and you don’t have all the necessary tools to complete the work.

I don’t know about any of your but when I needed to find of what font was used in a design I was vectorizing or recreating I would use google image search or but now it has become much easier. Abobe as now incorporated a feature that let’s you filter search for fonts with attributes like serif, script, blackletter and it can also search for fonts your have selected from an image by going to the Type menu’s match front.

Of course we have to mention what’s in store for designers and how they can benefit from Adobe Photoshop CC. As technology grows we are seeing displays with higher resolution which means some of your photos or design may not be as good as they may have appear in the past. Adobe’s new up-sampling algorithm could help reduce noise and help those images look clearer on those higher resolution screens.

Legacy versions of photoshop where able to cuts a web design up and code html for the designer. However, now Photoshop CC can generate CSS code that gives your a mirror image of the designed as it appeared in software.

With all Creative Cloud subscriptions adobe now includes Photoshop’s 3D image editing instead of making users play extra for the extended edition and definitely makes having a Creative Cloud subscription worth it.  The software is not as laggy and the shadow rendering is more realistic.

Now you do have to realize the 3D tool is not easy to use and has a steep learning curve. One plus to the updated 3D mode is the capability of 3d printing and with 3D printing being in now it is nice to be able to design a 3d model and print all from one piece of software.

If your a gamer into creating 3d gaming avatars then you might want to take a look at Adobe Fuse CC which works well side by side with Adobe Photoshop CC and allows you to design the human form. Fuse CC allows you to edit up to 380 attributes of a human figure, you can design faces, body shapes and apply texture to those models. Now the cool thing is not only can you animate these models but you can also print them in 3D and have a physical model to display your creativity!

Now I think for all Multimedia and graphic design creators it would be amazing to have software that does it all. That time may not be here yet but Adobe is on the right track with Photoshop CC and it I am excited. Can you believe that Adobe Photoshop CC does video editing as well?

Photoshop CC video editing feature is capable of adjusting the exposure, cropping and applying filters to video. The software also has the same multitrack and keyframing capabilities that are integrated into Adobe Premiere Pro.Other options are trimming, splitting and join video clips. Downside is there are very few audio tools and very few transitions.

The reason your here is the very question above “Are you ready to transition to Photoshop CC” and I think that depends on what you require in the software. We can all see that Photoshop CC offers plenty of new tools and options. The 3d printing capabilities might be enticing to someone into printing 3d objects but there are plenty of free software out there for this very thing but if  you use Photoshop for photo editing and image manipulation this might be an extra bonus for you. If your some who could benefit from the new Photo editing tools such as camera shake reduction or content aware crop and the updated web designing feature you might want to take a further look at Photoshop CC.

The monthly subscription makes the software way more obtainable to individuals because in the past the legacy version which cost about $400 was way beyond most individual designers budgets. Let’s not even talk about the Creative Suite price which was thousands but now priced at $50 a month. I think you need to ask yourself can I afford to add this to my monthly bills, am I going to utilize all the new tools offered by Adobe Photoshop CC or can I get by with the Legacy version and if the answer is yes to the first two question then go for it!

As an owner and user of Photoshop CS 6 I have been debating whether I want to move over to CC due to its subscription model approach. Really the debate inside of me is I can do almost everything I do on a day to day basis with what I have installed already. Your review of the new features included in CC have gone a long way in convincing me that yes I really do need to make the jump. I can imagine how useful content aware crop would be incredibly useful and save me from having to do it, several times on a bad day, If anyone out there has done any family, especially child photo editing face aware liquify is another tool that would come in very handy. Thanks for the great review, it really helped me.

I myself needed some convincing to move from Adobe Photoshop CS to Adobe Photoshop CC, so I decided to download a trial and see what all the fuss was about. After using it and researching the tools I found plenty of useful tool such as the content aware fill,Face-Aware Liquify and Camera-Shake Reduction. I didn’t even think of how useful Face-Aware Liquify would be on family Photoshops especially holiday photos where children look miserable and are in need of turning that frown upside down!

I’m glad the review helped and good luck with the transition whenever you decide your ready!

How did you put the social media buttons on your homepage? What is the theme of your page? Your Photoshop CC review is probably the most in-depth review I ever read. The screenshots are helpful too. Looking through your layout, it is fitting to what you are doing. Keep up the good work.
